Stephen Fromel, PA-C
Stephen Fromel has been a physician assistant in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery since 1999. After graduating from Penn State, Mr. Fromel continued his education at Lock Haven University, a relatively small, central Pennsylvania university. Following his graduation, Mr. Fromel began working in heart, lung and vascular surgery.
He and his family have enjoyed living in San Antonio since 2012. As a physician assistant, Mr. Fromel's job encompasses both inpatient and outpatient care. His duties include first assisting in open heart surgery, hospital rounds, writing orders and notes, performing procedures, interpreting diagnostic studies, patient education and communication with other healthcare professionals who are participants in your care.
Endoscopic vein harvesting is a particular area of expertise. This is a minimally invasive way of harvesting the saphenous vein from your leg through a small incision at the knee. The vein is then used to bypass blocked arteries in the heart.
