
Miguel Urencio, MD
Dr. Miguel Urencio specializes in aortic surgery, cardiac surgery and cardiothoracic surgery. A native of Mexico City, he graduated from medical school at the prestigious National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) while being enrolled in its Academic Excellence Program.
Dr. Urencio emigrated to the United States after finishing medical school to do clinical research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. After two successful years in the research side of medicine, he continued at the University of Mississippi where he completed his General Surgery Residency and Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship. Dr. Urencio received additional training at Emory University in Atlanta, GA in Advanced Aortic Surgery.
He specializes in all aspects of cardiac surgery, with a focus on complex procedures and aortic surgery. He has published multiple peer-reviewed scientific articles and abstracts, three book chapters, and he is an invited reviewer in a peer-reviewed cardiac surgery journal. He fluently speaks English and Spanish. He and his wife Emilia have three children.
